Hello, I'm facing the same error now while installing Lint Mint and Ubuntu in my dell inspiron 7000. Can you please post the solution to this issue? 
EFI partition which is in sda1 cannot be accessed by Ubuntu installer. 
'FAT-fs (sda1) Error, invalid access to FAT'

  Have tried disabling secure boot etc etc to allow installation.
  Nothing seems to work.
