I guess you are right! testparm showed a malformed line in [global]

client min protocol = SMB1

After uncommenting it or changing it to

client min protocol = NT1

I wasn't able to reproduce the above error.

  What happened:
  Update process threw error messages.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. sudo apt update && sudo apt dist-upgrade
  2. watch update throwing error messages below
