Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted
the installer in EFI mode. A warning message prompted you that this
could be a problem and recommended performing a bios mode install
instead, but you chose not to. You either need to perform the bios mode
install, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system
partition to install in EFI mode. This will be done for you if you
choose the "use entire disk" guided install option.

  GRUB installation failed

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  I used Ubuntu 17.04 before. And now I want to install 16.04 since it
  offers gpu acceleration with cuda for gromacs. But for some reason,
  "GRUB Installation failed" error pops up. So I tried some solutions on
  the website, but it just makes my computer slower.

  FYI, I'm using ubuntu-16.04.2-desktop-amd64.iso included usb, and my
  desktop is using ASUS mainboard.
