  installer crashed after failing to install grub2

  New

Bug description:
  This happened on install of Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS.
  installation was done on an existing drive with other os, manually repartitioned adding swap and root fs. expected to see this complete successfully.

  when running grub-install /dev/sda from command line it said something
  about /cow image.
