Bug description:
  Series: Cosmic
  sddm: 0.18.0-1ubuntu2
  casper: 1.395

  Since casper change: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/casper/1.395

"Set empty live user password on all flavours, this was previously gdm
  specific."

sddm login to the live session is not possible. e.g. should the live
session user log out or restart X/sddm

In discussion @ https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/751 it appears
that sddm does not support login with an empty password.

Focus of that discussion is more towards autologin when clicking a
user with a black password, but it is also clear that clicking login
with no password in the password box for a passwordless user will also
  fail.
