Thanks for testing, Nathan. In that case I'm marking this as a duplicate
of bug 1713313.

I assume 18.04 will offer newer drivers and support for newer hardware
in 18.04, but I don't know about that card specific, sorry.


Curtis: Could you please add a comment about that on bug 1713313. There is some discussion (and I fell off it quite quickly), but it doesn't seem like it has been mentioned already.

Title:
  gparted won't display with multiple screens available

Status in gparted package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I have multiple monitors. Gparted doesn't execute.
  I'm using ubuntu 17.10 fully updated. AMD A6-9500 CPU with built in graphics. Not using xorg.
  Running from commandline, I see the following in the output.

  No protocol specified

  (gpartedbin:5456): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0

  Of course both displays I have render OK otherwise.
