This issue appears to have been fixed upstream in freetds 0.91.

  Upon running
  $ osql -S dsn -U username -P secret
  osql: error: no potential directory strings in "/usr/bin/isql"
  isql strings are:
  + /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2

  tsql itself is working fine
