[Bug 1782463] [NEW] Mate 18.04 64 grub update fails to write to g2G 1st partition on 4T drives

Public bug reported:

Trying to install Bionic Beaver Mate 64AMD to a couple 4T disks with 32G
Ext4 partition mounted at / and with a 4G swap partition and an extra
3.9T Ext4 partition that takes all but 30G of the rest of the space.

The install OS is on a USB 32G CF card. It has been used to install to
various other "drives" successfully.

The 4T drives pass extended Smart tests.
