I don't get this is if I sync the file after dd.

Title:
  18.04.1 release candidate fails to boot

Status in syslinux package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  To reproduce download the lubuntu 18.04.1 release canidate and try to
  boot it on an hp pavaillon dv1230 us laptop. I cannot report this with
  apport as I am not that far along the boot process. immediately after
  I select the usb device to boot I get this and have taken a picture
  and have typed out the text.

   ISOINUX 6.03 20171017 EHDD Copyrught (C) 1994-2014 H. PETER ANVIN et al no default UI configuration directive found!
   boot:

  I have tried to make sure it was not a bad usb drive and have used two different usb drives and I checked the hash of the file with zsync. processor	: 1
   there was some mention of console setup on -release
