Your disk is currently partitioned to boot in bios mode, but you booted
the installer in EFI mode. You either need to boot the installer in bios
mode, or partition the disk using GPT and set up an EFI system partition
to install in EFI mode. This will be done for you if you choose the "use
entire disk" guided install option.

Title:
  Same failure on 18.04 as on 16.04 see bug 1780848

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Same failure as described in 1708848 now exists on USB loads of 
   16.04-4, 18.04 All 64AMD and used latest Rufus 3.1 to create USB

  Can not seem to write Grub2 to the proper place on on partition and
  says system will not boot properly.

  This maybe related to bug 1668148 but uncertain
