Hrm.. if the second line shows "set -ex" then running os-prober should
produce a lot of debug output showing every line of the script that is
executed.  Oh, try running it yourself instead of letting the installer
do it.

  18.04 install stuck on grub install

Status in os-prober package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Installation freezes on grub install at 66%. syslog shows grub-install
  ran successfully, then seems to have actually gotten stuck in the next
  step (osprober). Photo attached, sorry for the terrible quality from
  HTC.
