Public bug reported:
Using Ubuntu Trusty, I cannot install a package that has an architecture "any" package dependency.
For example, this is the case when attempting to install https://packages.debian.org/sid/kgb-bot which depends on "perl:any".
Newer dpkg versions correctly interpret this "any" as an architecture specification for "perl" and continue the installation.
Just like https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dpkg/+bug/1730627
has recently backported a feature from newer dpkg to Trusty's older
version, this should also be possible to fix this bug.
** Affects: dpkg (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
