  Ubuntu 18.04, Debian Installer not displaying correctly

Status in debian-installer package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  The debian installer seems to have some encoding problems and thus
  does not present information correctly. Special characters are
  garbaged, as are some of the ANSI visualizations. However it seems to
  be related to locale (region selection, keyboard detection).
