It looks a bit like you've tried to do an EFI install but don't have an
EFI boot partition on your drive:

  gurb2 installation failed

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  i tried so many time....with my hp laptop...i have letest ubuntu 16.04.4...but 
  while installing the ubuntu at last , it can not install gurb2 package...and it will show failed error..
  all installtion will fail....nothing to do....
  what can i do for this problem,...please give me a solution ...and possiblr support
