I did upgrade my system from 14.04 (where I don't recall having these
error messages) to 16.04 long ago (and I think I filed this bug right
after the upgrade). I get these messages most/all times times that I run
"apt dist-upgrade". I think I have an EFI system partition on my Windows
disk. I have a spinning HDD which came with the system onto which Lenovo
installed Windows and their Windows recovery  partition, and an SSD onto
which I installed Linux, and from which the system boots by default. The
EFI partition would be on the Windows disk, whereas /boot etc. are on
the Linux disk.
