Your USB stick contains files from artful and xenial.  You need to clean
it before reusing it to install another release.

  Tried to install ubuntu on Lenovo Idea 320, failed to install the Grub
  menu.

Status in grub-installer package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Whilst following the instructions to try ubuntu, i then decided to
  install it via the desktop environment. After letting the installer do
  it's thing, it failed to install the grub menu. I will try again to
  see if all fixed itself. :D
