second attempt

SSDs on system
/dev/sda    Samsung EVO 840 250 GB   - used for elementary linux - loki
/dev/sdb    Samsung EVO 840 120 GB   - trying to install ubuntu 18 LTS into

ran SMART diags on both SSDs ... no errors showing

NOTE -- right now I cannot boot into EITHER ... 
Grub2 is broken and will not let me fix
and Stupid me ... this is my main home PC
the other disk seems to have my data and OS on it
just i cannot seen to be able to boot to it

on clean install of ubuntu 18 LTS

trying to install on second SSD on my system
(first has Elementary 0.4.1 Loki)

went to terminal manually created partitions with fdisk

fdisk /dev/sdb
created 3 new partitions
/dev/sdb1   /boot       1 GB
/dev/sdb2   swap       16 GB
/dev/sdb3   /          remaining 

did another INSTALL

fails again at same spot ... GRUB 2 write issue

previous time ... tried Boot-Repair ... no good
