Thinboy00,

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Ubuntu 8.10 (intrepid) reached end-of-life on April 30, 2010.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported in a
currently supported version of Ubuntu?

See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

Please let us know if you do otherwise this bug report can be left to
expire in approximately 60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

Title:
  aptitude segfaults reliably in aptitude why-not

Status in aptitude package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: aptitude

  I did
  $ aptitude why-not enlightenment
  and it segfaulted
  Strace attached (bzip2'ed to speed up/downloading)
  Intrepid
  $ aptitude --version
  aptitude 0.4.11.3 compiled at Sep  2 2008 12:39:43
  Compiler: g++ 4.3.2
  Compiled against:
    apt version 4.6.0
    NCurses version 5.6
    libsigc++ version: 2.0.18
    Ept support enabled.

  Current library versions:
    NCurses version: ncurses 5.6.20071124
    cwidget version: 0.5.12
    Apt version: 4.6.0

  What it should have done:
  Informed me that "enlightenment" is not actually a package, but that several things which are packages refer to it by that name.

  This does not affect other packages or "aptitude why enlightenment",
  although the latter does not indicate that e is not a package.

  I have e16 installed via apt and e17 installed via the script
  mentioned in the forums.
