Confirming, I saw this too. It's partman-auto not doing what it should,
and it should be easy enough to fix the recipe (although there undoubtly
are other bugs that will show up then).
LVM+multipath on ppc64el has been broken for a while, unfortunately...

Title:
ppc64el lvm guided install: doesn't create /boot, and complains about
it
Status in partman-auto package in Ubuntu:
Triaged
Bug description:
I'm following the "Install (Default + LVM) in Ubuntu Server ppc64el in
Cosmic Daily" iso test and was surprised to be warned that my
partitioning layout didn't include a /boot partition (see screenshot).
I was offered an option to not continue (the default), or ignore it
and continue. If I continue, the installation finishes without further
issues and the vm boots just fine.
Since I'm using the guided partitioning option, I'm expecting the
installer to take care of such things. It should either create the
/boot that it is complaining about, or not complain about it, since it
seems to be working just fine.
When selecting the similar "lvm + encryption" option, I don't get
warned about a missing /boot.
