[Bug 1798819] [NEW] Software Updates are available but list is empty

Public bug reported:

The list is empty but the download/update prompt lists the size of the
update and, on clicking on update, the download process starts but
unable to see what is being downloaded. Doing 'sudo apt autoremove' from
the terminal fixed the problem.
