I have tried to overcome this problem by changing "Download from" from
Isle of Man Server (where I had been staying) to UK server (where I am
now) and then to Main server, but none of these changes have prevented
Software updater from coming up with "Failed to download repository
information" after running a cache update from each of them in turn.
