Thanks for filing this bug in Ubuntu.

The logs confirm that samba failed to start, but not why. There is also
no config file attached to this report, so we can't say if it's a syntax
error there.

Please attach the log files from /var/log/samba/log* and the
configuration file from /etc/samba/smb.conf.

  Was having problems sharing folders on my Ubuntu box with both another
  Ubuntu 18.04 box and a Windows 7 box.  Kept getting error from Samba
  so attempted to re-install.
