Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The error that you are a reporting is a conflict between
packages from the official Ubuntu archive and packages from a PPA. To
resolve this situation please deactivate PPAs using the tool 'ppa-purge'
which is provided by the ppa-purge package. Then try performing the
release upgrade again. Thanks in advance!

Bug description:
  I was trying to upgrade my distro using the Software Updater on my
  Lubuntu installation, but crashed while installing Lubuntu-core.

  I tried to install lubuntu 18.04 before on my laptop (omen by hp
  15-ce002la) but failed several times with different usb and burners,
  so i sticked with 16.04 instead which worked great.
