Title:
[Lenovo Thinkpad L560/L570] Latest ubuntu bios upgrade bricks the
  computer

Status in fwupdate package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
On Friday 7 Sep. a bios update was released through ubuntu software center in Ubuntu 18.04.
I've attached a screenshot of the update to this bug report.

I've applied the update to a Lenovo Thinkpad L560 AND a Lenovo
Thinkpad L570 and after rebooting both computers started beeping and
  they died.

Now both laptop shows only a black screen and all the Lenovo suggested
procedures to restore the BIOS were unfruitful. The only solution
appears to send back the laptops to be repaired.
