Public bug reported:

When trying to install Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, shortly after selecting the keyboard layout, I was shown an error message which was hard to interpret correctly.
"Only 8.1 GB available, Ubuntu needs 8.6GB" (see screen photo).

The error message did not say where the space was missing (the hard drive had over 100GB of unallocated space ... and I did not even select the drive where I wanted to install.
The problem was not related to free space, but to disk access mode (setting AHCI rather than RAID in Setup fixed the issue).

Please consider updating the error message to something more actionable.
* Which medium is missing space.
* Some possible solutions?
* Can we detect automatically that this actually is a disk access issue ?

** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New

** Attachment added: "The screen in the installer"
