[Bug 1823383] [NEW] grub-efi fails to register boot entry
Grub

Public bug reported:
Every time grub is updating it removes an already existing efi boot entry and tries to create a new one. In my case it fails to make new entry with an error:
grub-install: error: efibootmgr failed to register the boot entry: Input/output error.
Due to this failure, system becomes unbootable since there is no boot
entry in efivar. I have to then manually boot system with
efi_no_storage_paranoia kernel parameter in order for grub to
successfully install.
There is already patch available for the main grub repository to fix grub-install to not re-create efi boot entry if one already exists.
The patch can be found here: https://salsa.debian.org/grub-team/grub/commit/c3ab38fcac862d07eceefe3c56fa22b140f37410
