Public bug reported:
ubuntu 18.04.2.iso (amd64) on Toshiba 32G stick on dell optiplex 3050
(7th generation intel i5, EFI-boot, Secure boot off) got some
unrecoverable errors, while installing ubuntu alongside win10 pro. Was
downloaded on WinXp and put on usb with win32DiskImage.
I will try this procedure again to see if the same "feature" arise. :-)
This was the best trial so far, after changing one setting in the Dell bios.
It had two fields recognizing Windows bootloader; and I turned off the first.
After that, the ubuntu installer recognized windows alongside.
Before that, I doubted if it even could.
Please attach the files /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman to your bug;
No idea where to find these. Main problem is the usb stick is busy and mounted, and cannot be accessed.
