Yes I did recieve a message about using 'ppa-purge'. Although it is very
unclear repository you should purge. I also did try upgrading with
disabling everything under 'Other Sofware' and it still did not work, so
I figured it couldn't have been any of the PPA:s.
But I did as mentioned and the upgrade to 18.10 is working. Yet I still
believe the installer should be able to point out what packages are
interfering. Or does this apply to all thrid party packages? Or just for
graphics drivers?
