Thank you for your report.

This installation looks like it was caused by a corrupted file system. I
notice in the logs

Aug 05 15:30:45 hostname kernel: FAT-fs (sda2): error, corrupted directory (invalid entries)
Aug 05 15:30:45 hostname kernel: FAT-fs (sda2): Filesystem has been set read-only
Aug 05 15:30:45 hostname kernel: FAT-fs (sda2): error, corrupted directory (invalid entries)

Aug  5 10:01:00 ubuntu grub-installer: grub-install: error: cannot open
`/boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/shimx64.efi': Read-only file system.

I've marked this bug as incomplete, if you believe I'm in error please
leave a comment as to why, and you can return the status to new.

I suggest you `fsck` your /dev/sda2 (EFI partition) the try again.  If
it fails again please change the status of this bug report back to new
and report what you found. If I'm correct the install will succeed after
`fsck`.
