Upgrading from 19.04 to 19.10 went without a hitch. For me this issue
isn't a problem anymore.

  Incomplete

Bug description:
  I installed Ubuntu 19.10 on a X1 carbon.

  The installation itself succeeded. Including a grub install.
  The boot process halts after selecting ubuntu in grub.

  An install of ubuntu 19.04 didn't ran into these problems.
