Public bug reported:
First of all, I should make clear that downloading the ISO and
installing Ubuntu on Parallels (VM product for macOS) works as usual.
The problems reported below happens when using the Ubuntu 18.04 image
offered by the software when creating a new VM (it offers a gamut of
free images, from old versions of IE to a list of Linux distros).
1) Screen shows glitches, and it is very slow (10 seconds or more) to
redraw after window is resized, clicks are sometimes lost, etc. This is
resolved by disabling 3D support in virtual video card.
2) General sluggishness. The system feels slow and this is not cured by
any configuration I tried (adding or removing processors, adding memory
up to 8GB).
At least the Debian image offered through the same UI worked perfectly
out of the box, with the default 1GB of RAM.
In attachment you will find a screenshot of the Parallels VM creation
panel I refer at the beginning, and a screenshot of my Mac's model, in
case it affects the virtual 3D support.
** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
