  cannot login after logout from panel

Status in ubuntu-release-upgrader package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Using Startup application one was added to play a sound at login.
  This was the command entered
  paplay /usr/share/sounds/ubuntu/stereo/desktop-login.ogg

  It works from cold boot but if you logout from the panel and log back
  in the system freezes and needs to be rebooted from the top panel.

  Deleting the Startup application to play the sound does not alter
  things - so the bug may have been present before - just not noticed
  it.
