Title:
/dev/mapper is empty after disk replacement

Status in dmraid package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Hello,

I've got this fakeraid installed in my box:

01:00.0 RAID bus controller: Silicon Image, Inc. SiI 3132 Serial ATA
  Raid II Controller (rev 01)

I've replaced the drive and the device in /dev/mapper is no more
  available.

I've tried to rebuild the raid, and try to activate it using the
dmraid utility, but the output is always the same:

  no raid disks

I can see my drives as a block device (via option -b), but it is not
  discovered:

  # dmraid -s -vvvv -dddd | grep sdb
  NOTICE: /dev/sdb: asr discovering
  NOTICE: /dev/sdb: ddf1 discovering
  NOTICE: /dev/sdb: hpt37x discovering
  NOTICE: /dev/sdb: hpt45x discovering
  NOTICE: /dev/sdb: isw discovering
  NOTICE: /dev/sdb: jmicron discovering
  NOTICE: /dev/sdb: lsi discovering
  NOTICE: /dev/sdb: nvidia discovering
  NOTICE: /dev/sdb: pdc discovering
  NOTICE: /dev/sdb: sil discovering
  NOTICE: /dev/sdb: via discovering

  I've got this Ubuntu release:

  root at media-server:/home/admin# lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS
  Release: 18.04

I've seen these devices before the replacement and upgrade:

  /dev/mapper/sil_bjagagcbafdh3
  /dev/mapper/sil_bjagagcbafdh1
  /dev/mapper/sil_bjagagcbafdh2

I would like to get the device mapper back so I can utilize the raid
  functionality.

Thanks a lot for any help.

  Tom
