Neither of the URLs you listed starts by stating the problem, imho it
would help to the state the goal/impact if you want to get interest in
the issue (otherwise people are just going to glance, don't understand
the request and close it)

  New

Bug description:
  There's an upstream bug for this, however it seems like Ubuntu should
  provide a package even if Debian doesn't. Not sure what needs to
  happen to make this work. Seems relatively straightforward?
