Also, my grub settings in /etc/default/grub (and running update-grub
afterwards) are:
GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE="menu"
GRUB_TIMEOUT="10"
The menu still does not appear on screen, as described above.

Bug description:
Grub menu is there, but not visible on screen, which is stuck on
previous bios output. Installing 18.04 grub fixes the problem.
