Public bug reported:

I'm trying to install Ubuntu onto a external SSD that I primarily plan
to use with the laptop I'm installing it on, but I also like to be able
to run it from other machines if possible.

I managed to install ubuntu once but the grub boot loader wasn't
appearing and the laptop would just boot into either windows 10 (which
is install on the internal SSD) or ubuntu. I tried a few things the fix
this but I ended up unable to boot into ubuntu at all, so I formatted
the external drive and tried to install ubuntu again, but this time put
the boot loader on the internal SDD, though this isn't really what I'd
like to do as I assume this would prevent using it with other PCs.

But now the install keeps crashing, the log seems to say it's an issue
with ubiquity (no clue what that even is). I've tried searching this
problem and found some people talking about display scale being an issue
so I tried setting that to 100% instead of the default 200%, and
unchecking the "install 3rd party software" option, but it still
crashes.

I quite new to Linux in general so sorry for my ignorance.
I'd be very grateful for any help you can offer.
