Title:
  Updating grub-efi breaks classic images

Status in Ubuntu Image:

Status in ubuntu-image package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Updating grub-efi breaks classic images. This happens because it
  writes a new file in the EFI partition (/boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu/grub.cfg)
  that simply points to /boot/grub/grub.cfg in the rootfs. However, that
  file does not exist, and after rebooting I get a grub prompt.

  This can be reproduced by running:

  $ sudo dpkg-reconfigure grub-efi-<arch>
