You probably had a bad write to your media. If you're still having
problems please try the option to check the integrity of the image from
the installer boot menu, and if this confirms that the media is corrupt,
try re-writing it. Due to the time that has elapsed since you raised
this report I;m closing it but please feel free to reopen the report if
you're still having problems completing the installation.

Title:
  Instalation Failed

Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  First installation attempt failed during disk partitioning when attempting dual-boot install.
  Second attempt, I created a partition for Linux prior to installing, this time installation failed 'when copying files' or something and gave me an error message about a possible faulty or dammaged HDD/SSD. But this computer is brand new and the internal drive seems to be fine. 

  Running an HP laptop with Intel Pentium Gold 4417U Gold processor,
  500GB hard drive storage, 4GB DDR4 RAM, and running with pre-installed
  Windows 10 home edition OS. Laptop was purchased less than 2 weeks
