Title:
Installation at 5/7 Progress, Can't Dismiss Message Box with "??? ???"

Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete
Status in ubiquity source package in Trusty:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I'm trying to install 14.04 Final Beta on an old Dell 4550.

  The image is
  http://mirrors.usinternet.com/ubuntu/releases//trusty/ubuntu-14.04-beta2-desktop-i386.iso.

The old Dell has a Intel P4 2.0GHz, 2.0 GB memory.

The one thing that might complicate this is a Silicon Image PCI-X Sata
II controller. There is no IDE harddrive; rather, there are a coupe of
SATA II drives in a mirrored configuration.

At 5/7 progress dots, I'm presented with a message box that I can't
dismiss. The title of the message box is "??? ????", and the text of
the message box is "??? ???".

Image of the screen is attached.
