Title:
  No warning for insufficient memory

Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I tried the Live CD in Virtualbox. The default memory allocation (in
my old version, still run 10.04) is 384MB, which is apparently
insufficient to even get a working GUI, let alone use the distro
  productively.

A warning message when you run in low-memory conditions would be
helpful in a number of scenarios.

  1. I just wasted an entire morning on something which would have taken 5 minutes to fix if the system had displayed a warning
  2. Users who try out Ubuntu on less than recommended hardware should at least be made aware that the experience is suboptimal (if not nonexistent, as in my case)
  3. It should improve PR perception and reduce support calls and/or unfair conclusions
