Title:
grub2 fails to start on degraded raid 1

Status in grub2 package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I recently installed Ubuntu 10.04.1 for a friend, creating a setup
with a single raid1 partition on / using 2 HDDs.

However, grub2 would fail to start when the raid1 partition was
degraded. Control seemed to be handed to grub2 on the MBR, but it
would almost immediately reboot the computer.

Once I booted up on a rescue disk, and resynced the raid1 partition,
  everything worked again.

It seems likely to me that grub2 is trying to access the desynced part
of the raid0 partition. grub2 should be smart enough to access only
  the synced disk(s).
