Title:
GPU lockup Errors on 12.10 64-bit, this past week after dis-upgrade
Status in apport package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
This past week I've been getting frequent GPU lockup errors. "Ubuntu has detected an error related to apport-gpu-error-intel.py." I often experience a long lag in display refresh when browsing during this error report, but not always. Occasionally there is a distorted image display when browsing.
The only major change that I can think of is a recent dist-upgrade that I did before the locks reports started showing up, but not sure how tight a correlation it is time-wise.
I'm running 12.10 64-bit on a MacBookPro8,1
It has happen several times when browsing on Firefox.
The machine has not completely locked up so far ... maybe once, Ubuntu lockups are not very rare so it could've been something else. The most annoying part of this error is the apport messages. They're more disrubtive than the error itself.
One more thing that might be related is that in the past few months since 12.10 installed, compiz commonly spikes the CPU 1-4 times a week making the machine slow enough that I often prefer to reboot than to wait it out.
