[Bug 1878582] Re: package grub-efi-amd64-signed 1.128.2+2.04-1ubuntu12.2 failed to install/upgrade: installed grub-efi-amd64-signed package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

I see by the logs that there is "no space left" on the boot device
/dev/sdd1 which is a very small capacity thumb drive for rEFInd.

I believe that this can be resolved by removing grub from my Ubuntu
install. It is not needed.

Title:
  package grub-efi-amd64-signed 1.128.2+2.04-1ubuntu12.2 failed to
  install/upgrade: installed grub-efi-amd64-signed package post-
installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1

Status in grub2-signed package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Error happened at the end of a package update initiated by me at the
  command line.

Here are the last few lines of output from that update:

  Errors were encountered while processing:
   grub-efi-amd64-signed
   shim-signed
  E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I am using rEFInd as a boot loader. I suspect that my Ubuntu install
has some sort of issue with that.
