Hi. I got KVM+serial console to work this time. (I think that by default, kvm doesn't give the installer enough ram). Going through my proceedure, I allow the installer to upgrade, and it does in fact continue on the serial console. It also continues on the tty0, so perhaps I was confused by this.

Bug description:
I booted ubuntu 20.04.1 from a USB key to install a server.
(It would be great if that was a regular option, and if grub could be more easily tuned to include console ttyS1)
Ubuntu nicely discovered that I had booted from serial console, and I opted to stay with the non-rich mode, since I was using an xterm and serial console (SOL) via IPMI.
I agreed to update my installer. Then I lost everything.
It seems that the installer was then running on the tty0.
