While subiquity is the new server installer for Ubuntu it is not the
installer for the Ubuntu Core product, so it'd be helpful if you were to
answer my original question.

Title:
ubuntu core 20 installer serial console not preserved after update
Status in subiquity package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I booted ubuntu-core 20 from a USB key to install a server.
(It would be great if that was a regular option, and if grub could be more easily tuned to include console ttyS1)
Ubuntu nicely discovered that I had booted from serial console, and I opted to stay with the non-rich mode, since I was using an xterm and serial console (SOL) via IPMI.
I agreed to update my installer. Then I lost everything.
It seems that the installer was then running on the tty0.
