Hello, the usual cause of this problem is a broken HTTP proxy:

Do you run an http proxy? if so, try disabling it.

Your ISP may run a transparent http proxy. If so, they may or may not be
able to turn it off for you.

It's always possible this is an error on the repository -- however, this
is significantly less common than an ISP running a proxy that you're not
aware of.
