We have certainly used this in the past successfully, I would look first
to the recent change away from softwareproperties to see if reverting
that fixes it.

Title:
get-ppa-fingerprint does not work on livefs builders - Network is
unreachable
Status in livecd-rootfs package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
When experimenting with some new image builds, I have noticed that
currently adding a new extra PPA to the image that's being built
(using EXTRA_PPAS) fails the build. The reason seems to be that the
get-ppa-fingerprint is failing to do Launchpad.login_anonymously
('livecd-rootfs').
OSError: [Errno 101] Network is unreachable
Example log:
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/500168477/buildlog_ubuntu_groovy_arm64_ubuntu_BUILDING.txt.gz
I don't know if its because of some missing network configuration, as
I can't say if this worked before. The get-ppa-fingerprint changed a
while back to do a direct LP call instead of softwareproperties.ppa,
but I feel that it might not work either way.
