Title:
ubuntu hirsute manual install; single partition and grub-install fails

Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Ubuntu hirsute QA-test install to
  - - hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 5gb, nvidia quadro nvs 290)

  New partition table created
Single partition using all of disk setup as sda1 (ext4)

  Grub install failed...

duplicate of 1923699 I believe but my attempts to pull that up with
  summary failed...

  ---
ubuntu at ubuntu:/$ mount |grep target
  /dev/sda1 on /target type ext4 (rw,relatime,errors=remount-ro)
  /dev/sdb2 on /target/boot/efi type vfat (rw,relatime,fmask=0077,dmask=0077,codepage=437,iocharset=iso8859-1,shortname=mixed,errors=remount-ro)
udev on /target/dev type devtmpfs (rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,size=2430848k,nr_inodes=607712,mode=755,inode64)
  ---

Problem as last time I believe is the install is to the hard disk
(sda1) but /target/boot/efi is listed as sdb2 (ie. the installation
  media not the intended target).

Messages on screen said boot loader was being installed to /dev/sda
