You seem to have both the ubuntu-desktop and kubuntu-desktop
metapackages installed, having multiple metapackages installed is not
recommended and can cause difficulties in calculating the release
upgrade. Please uninstall one of the metapackages and try the upgrade
process again.

  This is the message I have when I am trying to upgrade from 18.04LTS
  to 20.04LTS:

  "Could not determine the upgrade

  An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

   If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the
  command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. If
  you want to investigate this yourself the log files in '/var/log/dist-
  upgrade' will contain details about the upgrade. Specifically, look at
  'main.log' and 'apt.log'."
