Hello Dave, or anyone else affected,
Accepted linux-firmware-raspi2 into groovy-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/linux-firmware-raspi2/3-0ubuntu1~20.10.1 in a few hours, and then in
the -proposed repository.
Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.
If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
groovy to verification-done-groovy. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-groovy. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.
Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!
N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

Merge firmware 20210108 from raspbian
Status in linux-firmware-raspi2 package in Ubuntu:
New
Status in linux-firmware-raspi2 source package in Groovy:
Fix Committed
Bug description:
[Impact]
For the upcoming 20.04.2 point release, we want the raspberry pi
images to have the latest firmware bits available. So this update
falls under the HWE criterium.
This bumps the boot firmware to 20210108, the wifi firmware to +rpt10,
and the bluez firmware to +rpt7.
The focal backport contains an additional Breaks: flash-kernel
(<<3.103) entry in d/control as the firmware package changed during
the groovy cycle to rely on flash-kernel for copying the boot firmware
to the boot partition rather than using a postinst. Thus the focal
backport depends on LP: #1904890.
[Test Case]
Build a new raspi image for each affected series and do a sanity smoke
test if it boots, has wifi and bluetooth works.
Take an existing old raspi image and try to upgrade linux-firmware-
raspi2, reboot, make sure everything still works.
[Where problems could occur]
Basically the only regression-prone parts are wireless, bluetooth and
possibly bootability. Another place where things could go wrong is
with package dependencies and the introduced 'Breaks' not doing what
it should.
